More Typing Games for Kids

I just came across an excellent post today which covers various different games/tutors that are appropriate for children learning how to type. The post (Reverting to Type) covers 5 valuable tools and provides links at the end to access even more. Several of the games / touch-typing tutors highlighted have already been mentioned on this blog, but a couple of them were new to me so I figured I would pass them on to you.

Keyboard Climber
This is a very simple but effective game in which you need to help the monkey climb up towards the sky by pressing the correct letters. Incorrect keystrokes cause you to tumble down and require you to restart the level. Simple yet effective with graphics and sound sure to be catchy to your average 6 year old.

The site is attractive and easy to navigate so it’s certainly worth checking out if you have a kid and are looking for some typing games or general educational games.

Typing Adventure

Typing Adventure is a keyboarding program for kids, consisting of various lessons, tests and games. The different lessons allow you to focus specifically on particular keys or areas of the keyboard while the games allow you to practice your skills in an entertaining way ( there are a bunch of different games complete with themes, music and appealing graphics for kids). There are also a bunch of typing tests based on excerpts from different works of literature that provide you with a record of your WPM typing speed.

Just released this November is a new typing program designed specifically for children with learning disabilities. From their site:

Keyboard Classroom was designed by educators at the internationally-renowned Ben Bronz Academy to provide children with learning disabilities the opportunity to learn in a mainstream environment.
