Here’s a new typing game I stumbled upon today called Typo Negative. It’s another one in the spirit of Falling Words, Typer Shark, and other games where you have to eliminate words as they drop. This one has a few interesting twists such as the ability to access power-ups by typing in their names. This is definitely a game for experienced typists though, not for beginners. It starts off with long words and they come at you relatively quickly so this is more of a game for showing off existing typing skills rather than developing them.

Check out this online typing game I discovered just now. It’s called jTypingHero, its name being a reference to the fact that it is loosely based on guitar hero. Basically, letters fall down the screen and you have to try to type them just as they pass over specific spots.

Great Red Herring Chase from Intuition Games

I just came across a new typing game that approaches the challenge a little differently. The idea is that you are in a car chase and you need to type in the directions to your driver. It becomes a little bit like those choose-your-own-adventure books as you have 4 choices for lines at any given time and the story goes to different places depending on which line you type. Certainly not a game for everyone, but worth checking out if you are looking for something a little different.

I just came across a new typing game today called Typing Tone, so named due to its musical theme. Basically, letters appear as notes on a staff and they move across the board as music plays. You need to try to type them before they reach the opposite end of the screen. It seems like a pretty good game for learning key locations.

Key Master is another game in the realm of Falling Words or Typer Shark in that you need to type the approaching words before they reach a certain breaking point. In this case however, you are attacking monsters with your keystrokes rather than slaying sharks. The main aspect of this game that makes it worth checking out is the adjustable difficulty feature, which allows you to play the game at 4 different levels depending on your typing skill.

Well, I knew something like this would come along eventually. I even thought about making one myself: a typing game for the iPhone. Perhaps there are other examples of typing software for mobile devices, but this is the first I have heard of one (post a comment if you know of others please).
