Typing Games

Typing Zone

This typing game rewards you more for accuracy than speed. The goal, aside from correctly typing the words, is to avoid typos and thereby build long streaks of correct keystrokes.

One by one, words will fall from the top of the game board. As you type them they will disappear. If you are unable to complete the word before it hits the bottom, it will count as a mistake. The game ends once you have made 5 mistakes in any given round.

Meanwhile, there are two meters on the left that indicate your current streaks. The leftmost bar displays your keystroke streak while the other one displays your word streak. They will continue to build as long as you type each keystroke or word correctly but will reset as soon as you err.

Your score for each word depends on three things in the following order:
1) Your current keystroke streak
2) Your current word streak and
3) How far the word fell before you successfully typed it.

TypeDown

Game Instructions

The object of this game is to prevent the rising column of words from reaching the top by typing them as fast as you can.

Once you have typed a word, hit the space bar or enter key to submit it. Also, use space/enter to clear any mistake you make, as the delete key will not work.

Each level consists of 20 words. You must eliminate them all before the stack hits the top in order to proceed to the next level; otherwise your game is over.

The levels move in sets of 3. Within a set, length of the words remains the same while their rising speed increases. After each set, the word length goes up one and the speed resets.

Speed Typing

Game Intrsuctions

The object of this game is to type the 12 words in each round as quickly as possible, without making any typos.

You will be presented with words one by one. Type them as they appear. As you type each word, the characters you have entered will turn red to indicate your progress. As soon as you complete a word, you will be presented with another one – you do not need to hit the space bar or enter key.

If you make a mistake, you will see a red X appear and the game will pause briefly before you are presented with the next word.

The game will continue until you make 10 mistakes over the course of the game.

Your score is based on how many words you type correctly, how fast you do it, and what round you are on.

Key Block

Game Intrsuctions

The object of this typing game is to block the ball from leaving the playing field by pressing the appropriate key. The playing field consists of a square region bordered on all four sides by a series of block, each of them containing a different letter. The ball starts off in the middle of the field and then begins to shoot off towards one of the blocks. In order to stop the ball, you need to press (and hold) the right key until the ball has made contact with the block. If you do so, the screen will flash green and you will earn points for blocking the ball. If you fail to press the key in time, or are not depressing it when the ball makes contact with the block, you will lose the ball and the screen will flash red.

Each round last 1 minute. Your game will continue until you miss more than 10 balls in more than one round. If you pass the round, your score will be based on how many balls you successfully block, with a penalty incurred for making pressing more than one key per ball – making a mis-stroke.

The game gets more difficult from round to round as the balls shoot out faster and faster.

When you press a key, the corresponding block will light up green to provide visual feedback as to what you are typing.

Keyball

Game Intrsuctions

In Keyball, the game board is drawn up into squares that represent keys on your keyboard. Red balls and blue balls float around the board. In order to win, catch the blue balls and avoid the red balls!

Catching blue balls is simple. When you see a key field with only blue balls in it, just press its corresponding key on your keyboard. The letter on the game board will light up, and you will get points based on the number of blue balls that are in the field at that time. You may press any number of keys at the same time, but you may only press any individual key once every two seconds (so no hitting just one key over and over). The goal is to catch as many of the blue balls as possible in a single key field at the same time. For instance, if you catch two blue balls together you will get a good score, but if you catch four of them together you will get an even better score (and catching four together once is better than catching two together twice). However, if a red ball is in a key field when you select it, you will get a strike, and no points will be scored.

Your round will continue until you get 10 strikes, or run out of time. In order to advance, you must reach the target number of blue balls before the round ends.

Your progress in this area is indicated by the blue bar at the bottom of the screen. Once you have exhausted this bar, you can be confident that you have passed the round. In some of the levels, you will see small green balls. These are bonus balls. By themselves, they are worth nothing, but if you catch one in a field along with one or more blue balls, it will multiply your score for that keystroke by a factor of 10. If you happened to catch two bonus balls together along with some blue balls, each one would contribute a factor of 10!

Keyboarding

Game Intrsuctions

The object of this game is to type the simple words provided using a reassigned keyboard layout. That is, the keyboard will not type as you are accustomed to, but rather will adhere to the rules as defined by the graphical representation on your screen. If the key traditionally associated with ‘A’ is now labeled ‘H’, an ‘h’ will output any time you hit the ‘a’ key.

Each round, the keyboard assignment will be different and your job is to overcome this challenge and type the words (five per round) as fast as possible. There is no backspace key, so if you make a mistake, continue typing until the word is automatically submitted and then start over again.

Typo II

Game Instructions
Each round you will need to type a series of ’sentences’ containing words and punctuation. As the sentences appear, you need to duplicate them as quickly as you can (before the blue progress bar at bottom runs out).

Each time you get a sentence correct, you will move up one notch on the color ladder (on the right), but each time you miss a sentence you will move down (move off the bottom and your game is over). The goal of the game is to reach the top of this ladder before the round time expires.

Unlike the previous Typo game, you can make corrections in this game (such as using the backspace or arrow keys to edit). In fact, you must type the sentence exactly in order to move on to the next one.

Falling Words

Game Instructions
The object of this game is to type as fast as humanly possible. There are words falling from the top of the screen, and you need to try to type them before they hit the bottom. At first, the words will start off short and move relatively slowly. However, as the game picks up, they will get longer and move faster. Furthermore, for every word that hits the ground (the white horizontal line at the bottom), the ground will rise (one pixel for each character in the word). When this bar reaches the red line near the top of the screen, the game is over.

Keypad Keyball

Game Instructions
In this keypad version of Keyball there is one main difference from the regular game of Keyball. In regular Keyball you are trying to catch groups of blue balls together while avoiding the red balls. In this game, you are trying to catch any group of uniformly colored balls (3 reds, 2 blues, 4 greens), any group of balls that are all the same color. If there is even one impurity into the key field (6 greens but 1 red) it will not score but rather count as a miss. The major exception to this rule is the gray bonus ball. You may catch this with any group of same colored balls and it will multiply your score for those balls by the bonus factor.

Each round, you need to accumulate a certain number of points to move on, otherwise the game will end. Your game will also end when you have accumulated 25 misses over the course of the game

Focal Points

Game Instructions
This is a game of focus. Your job is to pay very careful attention to each of the sliding numbers (such as the one below) on the gameboard. As the numbers move back and forth within the bar, you need to press the number each time it passes over one of the black target areas. In the below example, you would press the ‘1′ key each time the blue square passes over one of the two dark squares.

The actual game will start with 4 of these bars (numbers 1-4) lined up in a column. Each number will be moving and you need to press the appropriate key each time any of the 4 numbers pass over any of the red areas. Any time you fail to do so, you will record a miss. Anytime you press a number that is not currently over one of its red areas, you will record a mistake. Each of these will deduct from your score. Most of your scoring is determined by your accuracy. While you will register a hit if any part of the blue square touches any red, you want to try to hit it when they overlap exactly. If you hit a target, the number will briefly flash green; if you make a mistake, it will flash gray.

Every three rounds you will get a new slider. Within the three rounds in between, the speed will increase, then reset at each new slider. If you can make it through 9 sliders, it will cycle back to the beginning again but the sliders get smaller and the pace increases. The game ends when you miss more than 25 chances in a round.
