Gyroshi
Dec 7th
Gyroshi is as much a musical experience as a typing game. Type the right letters at the right time (when they get in the circles). The game will look bland at first but it gets very intense when you’re doing good. See how long you can last in this colorful rhythm game.
Type Master

This is a simple little typing game / wpm typing test. You have a series of 10 phrases you need to type as quickly as possible after which it gives you a score and your WPM typing speed. The game has catchy graphics and sound, but unfortunately it is limited to one set of sentences so it gets old really quickly. Still, it’s worth playing a couple times to test your typing skills.
Sunrise Typer
Nov 13th
This is a simple yet compelling typing game. Basically, the object is to make the sun rise. You start off at night time and each successful keystroke you type elevates the sun and brings you closer to your goal. Conversely, incorrect keystrokes lower the sun and bring you back closer to night. So the faster and more accurately you type, the faster the sun will rise.

Super Typing

This is yet another game in the class of Falling Words and TyperShark in which you need to type the falling words before they hit the ground. In this case, it has a target practice theme so you are essentially using a gun to shot away individual letters. This game differs from falling words in that you start off right away typing really long words.
If you are like me, you may want to turn the sounds off for this game as the sound effects are a bit much….
Great Red Herring Chase from Intuition Games
Jul 21st
I just came across a new typing game that approaches the challenge a little differently. The idea is that you are in a car chase and you need to type in the directions to your driver. It becomes a little bit like those choose-your-own-adventure books as you have 4 choices for lines at any given time and the story goes to different places depending on which line you type. Certainly not a game for everyone, but worth checking out if you are looking for something a little different.

Typing Tone
Jun 20th
I just came across a new typing game today called Typing Tone, so named due to its musical theme. Basically, letters appear as notes on a staff and they move across the board as music plays. You need to try to type them before they reach the opposite end of the screen. It seems like a pretty good game for learning key locations.

Game Instructions
The object of this game is to prevent the rising column of words from reaching the top by typing them as fast as you can.
Once you have typed a word, hit the space bar or enter key to submit it. Also, use space/enter to clear any mistake you make, as the delete key will not work.
Each level consists of 20 words. You must eliminate them all before the stack hits the top in order to proceed to the next level; otherwise your game is over.
The levels move in sets of 3. Within a set, length of the words remains the same while their rising speed increases. After each set, the word length goes up one and the speed resets.

Typing Web: Free Online Typing Tutor
Dec 23rd
Typing Web seems to be one of the best options for adults looking to improve their typing skills or those looking to learn to type in the first place. It is professionally designed, feature rich, available online without download and completely free. It offers lessons, games, tests and graphs to chart your progress. You will have to sign up and create and account before beginning, but other than that there is not much negative to say about this program (of course the games aren’t as original as our typing games, but who can fault them for that – it’s only a reflection of our greatness, not a failure on their part.
Typing web also has a program whereby schools and companies can license the software in bulk and host it on the their intranet.
